Central America Branch Service Department Responds!

Our current location (Woodruff, SC USA) and locations of the five congregations we were invited to serve in.

On September 7, 2015, we wrote letters to the service departments of 10 branches. Although these were transmitted electronically, we were unsure of how soon a response might come. How excited we were when we got our first response on October 2, 2015 from the Central America Branch Service Department! There was some excitement just to get a response, knowing that the electrons did not somehow get displaced, but even more excitement to read the loving and carefully prepared letter that we received. In it we were encouraged to consider “Can You Step Over Into Macedonia?” in the December 15, 2009, issue of The Watchtower, pages 4-7, and the insert found in the August 2011 issue of Our Kingdom Ministry, pages 4-6 (which we have already done, but will be doing again). The letter also included words of encouragement and praise for making the sacrifices needed to serve where the need is greater.

Page two of the letter brought even more excitement, as we found exactly what we had hoped for: an invitation to come and serve at one of five selected congregations. For each location, we were provided a contact name, email address and telephone number. Additionally, the service department provided an information guide for each of the three countries, giving a brief overview of each regarding languages, climate, immigration, cost of living and lodging, telephone services and internet connection and transportation.

Here are the five congregations we have been invited to serve in (see map above; click on it for a larger view):
  • Ciudad Acuña, Coah., Mexico (English)
  • Reynosa, Mexico (English)
  • Matamoros, Mexico (English)
  • Miraflores, Guatemala (English)
  • Managua, Nicaragua (English)
Leiane has been doing some research into these areas, and we will continue to get more information on each to help us make a decision as to which congregation we will be going to serve in. Of course, we still have nine other branches to hear from.... That said, this region was at the top of our list, so we'll see!
